1904–05 Stoke F.C. season
The 1904–05 season was Stoke's 17th season of league football.
Overview
During the summer of 1904 players such as Arthur Capes and Leigh Richmond Roose left the club meaning there was a distinct lack of quality players and with those two major departures the Stoke fans saw very little hope of improvement on the pitch. Tom Holford took over as captain and new 'keeper Jack Whitley arrived from Everton. Forwards Jack Hall and James Sheridan also joined the club. However they were very inconsistent meaning Stoke manager Horace Austerberry was unable to field a settled side.
Twelfth place was the final outcome, there was no danger of relegation as the First Division was being expanded to 20 clubs for the next season.
